What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, phone number and a password (stored only in scrambled form).
- Your orders: the books you buy or are gifted, amounts, and payment references. Card and bank details are entered with our payment partners, not with us.
- Your reading: where you stopped in each book, your highlights and bookmarks, and your wishlist.
- Your devices: the name of each phone you sign in on, and when it was last used, so you can sign a device out.
- Authors also give a profile photo and bank details so we can pay them.
What we use it for
To sign you in, deliver the books you own, remember your place, take payment through the website, send receipts and gift emails, and keep the service safe. If you opted in, we also send book news. You can unsubscribe from any email.
The app
The app stores a sign-in key in your phone’s secure storage. Books you choose to save for offline reading are kept on your phone and can be removed in the app at any time. The app does not use your location, contacts or camera, and it contains no advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the services needed to run the shop: our payment partners (Paystack and Flutterwave), our email provider, and our hosting company. We do not sell your information. Authors see sales numbers for their own books, not your personal details.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open, and for orders as long as the law asks us to keep business records.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or close your account, by writing to hello@asherslibrary.com from the email on your account. We will reply within a reasonable time.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date above.
